Create your own custom template page
Hello,
Here’s a tip for those of you who find yourself adding the same basic content items to each page you create. Build your own, reusable “custom template page”! You can do this by taking advantage of Website Tonight®’s copy page function. First, create a new page and give it a name that indicates it is a template page. Then, add in all the base content items you want (pictures, text, etc.). Then, select Build Web Site/Organize Site from the menu. On the Organize Site page, select your template page and make sure Publish is not checked. Click OK to save your change. That’s it! You now have your very own template page. The next time you create a new page and want to use that template page, select it from the Copy of Existing Page drop down when you get to the Page Layout step.
You can create several template pages with a variety of basic content items. If you set them up in advance, creating new pages should be a breeze. Remember to make sure your template pages aren’t marked for Publish!

Another question: I have some neat niche templates on my computer. Is there a way to upload and turn them into templates using this process?
I mean by upload the webpage gif, not the HTML part - unless this is possible too. Respond please?

Hi Midge,
The tip I posted on creating your own page template only works for the current project. It's just something that I've found makes creating a bunch of similar looking pages in one site easier. The product doesn't support creating your own templates for use in creating several Web sites.
That said, you can upload the images from your niche template and use them to create page templates that look like the pages in your niche template. Then you can copy from those page templates when creating new pages for your site.

there should be a way to directly upload your own templates least with CSS script. Hope thats not a limited, I would be diasapointed.

I would like to request that there be more categories of photos, and intro flash pages.
I create websites for clients from time to time, and I would like to see photos and flash intro pages catered to these industries. Apparel, fashion, beauty, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, wood working, movie and television, photography and more. Also more diversity of mixed races on the flash pages.
This would really help me and others in our industries to have updated sites which Website Tonight can provide.
I would also like to see a way to upload music or audio files without having a large player box in the center of my page. Could we have the ability to move our player where we want it on our page?
Also on hyper links: I am using the blank page, and created my own buttons. When I use the hyper link, it puts a colored frame around my button. Could you allow for me either not to have a colored frame around it, or allow for me to change the color of the frame around the button hyper link?
Now here is an off the wall request. Is there a way for us to upload a photo, and have the ability to make flash out of it. Maybe to where we can have it slide show, or spin, or move in and out or something. Just a thought, and didn't know if it was possible.

Those are great suggestions. I've already forwarded your flash and music player ideas to our Creative team to see what they can do and I've added your hyperlink idea to our road map for new changes in the future.
I personally am a big fan of editing the visited and active hyperlink colors because you're right, sometimes when I design my own pages I just want to have the text link in the same color as the rest of my text with just an underline to hint that it is a link.

Is there any way to resize the blocks horizontally? All of the templates are way too small in width in order to take full advantage of Adsense....Will this ever be a feature here? Its been very frustrating not having the flexibility to make the blocks larger in widht.
What about adding blocks under the navigation sidebar? IF the page is long, then you have a huge spot on the left side left BLANK that cannot be edited?!? It becomes a waste of space.
Last comment is why isn't there a way to include headers? This would help most users of WST with google SERPs.

Great questions. When creating a list of cool template themes to add to the mix of templates I not only focused on specific templates but also on the fact that we need to offer wider and fluid (fit to browser) templates so don't worry- they're coming in the future.

Yeah...I just bought this website tonight unlimited package to save some time designing web pages, however...the horizontal size of these mandatory templates are very frustrating. This size constraint limits my options so much that I am having some buyers remorse.
Please tell me the secret to manipulate the code so I can change these limits and extend the horizontal to a % rather than a pixel. This would be much appreciated.
I dont really need the code so much as a way to get to it all.

You can use the advanced style editor if you would like to edit the css. We do carry fluid designs. The following are some of the templates that has fluid design.
Liquid Layouts
Generic -> Dark Stripes
Generic -> Gifted
Generic -> Clean Slate
Sports -> Football
Computers & Technology -> Networking
Outdoors & Nature -> Bark Park
Special Occasions & Holidays -> Valentine

hi,
on my homepage, i customized a picture in the template, but did not want that picture on subsequent pages. unfortunately, you have no way to remove the picture from other pages without it also removing it from the original page. you should make a way to be able to un-share aspects of the templates when wanted, so pages can be better customized.

I wanted to echo Teresa's comments and would be very interested in the ability to create different header images on each page of the website. Not being able to do this is very limiting. Any update on when this may happen.

Hi! Total noob here, but I was pleasantly surprised at how easy designing my site was. I have some questions, is it possible to add a background color or picture to your blocks, aside from the top template? Can you add a border or line around the blocks to define them? I also agree with the comment about changing the width of the blocks, that is a bit frustrating. Finally, a comment, in the image library, can you add some helpful headings? I have no idea what's in there and end grabbing images elsewhere. Thanks!

We will add this request to our future release. We are also looking at changing the width of the blocks.
You can search for any tag in the image gallery. We have several images in our image gallery that you can use in your site.

Hello Template Designers,
I notice you have templates for soccer and some other sports. If you add a rugby template, you could market Website Tonight to thousands of rugby clubs around the world - over 1,000 in the USA.
Also, how do I re-size the template banner boxes i.e. make the image larger and the text box smaller?
