Create book excerpts using the Photo Album

Hello,

One Website Tonight® customer has found a unique way of using the product’s Photo Album.  I thought it was such a creative use of the Photo Album that I wanted to share it with others out there.

Let’s say you’re an author and you’re building a site to showcase your new book.  What if you want to add excerpts of your book but want to make it more unique and interactive than just pasting text onto a few web pages?  Well, the Website Tonight Photo Album can be used to add this functionality.

First, you will need images of the pages for your excerpt.  You may have to scan a few book pages, the front cover, back cover, etc.  Yes, there is a little more work involved in this step but this also provides the opportunity for you to embed some image watermarks or other means of indicating your copyright.  There are several image editing software programs that will allow you to do this.

Then, add a Photo Album to one of your web pages (the Blank layout probably works best for this).  Add your images to the Photo Album in the order you want them to appear.  You can also add some captions (First Page, Table of Contents, Glossary, etc.) to your images.  That’s it!  When you publish, your site visitors will have a convenient way of viewing excerpts of your work.  They will be able to “page” through the excerpt by clicking Next or Previous.   They will also be able to view a full size image of the page by double clicking on the image.  Finally, as a bonus, your site visitor can choose to view the excerpt as a slide show!

Hope you find this useful!

Thank you for the insite. I actually took that idea and am putting it to use. As a national recruiter, I have hundreds of resumes within my database and I am thinking that I can take a link from a page, label it sales positions and add the album with my top 10-12 resumes on it, so the prospective clients can view the quality of candidates that my company has to offer. Thank you for the idea.
