Website Tonight 4.4
We've just released WebSite Tonight 4.4 which has many performance improvements, fixes and an extended feature based on feedback received within the program.
Improved Video handling:
We've expanded the options in the video section, per user request, to include additional choices. You can choose the video's behavior to autoplay and loop. Why is this useful? This allows you to have multiple videos on a page without them all trying to play at once. If you want to play them all at once, continually, you can do that too. (If anyone actually comes up with a good use for the latter please let us, and the rest of the web know).
Note:
If the player appears on your Firefox
browser without player controls and ignores your settings, you may
need the latest version of the WMP plug-in for Firefox which you can
obtain here.

Thank you for all for your feedback via the blog and the link within the application. I assure you we read every one.

Will it be possible to add photos and graphics to the forum page? Its kind of blah.

Greetings,
You are indeed correct that it's a bit light in terms of customization. There are updates within a future version that should address that issue but I'm afraid it's not on the immediate roadmap.

This is an awesome update, I've been waiting for this for a while.
My only complaint is the forum. You guys have been promising an update for a long time now, but could you maybe give us a date? Thanks!

Greetings,
I'm afraid I can't provide a date for any specific updates other than to reaffirm the intent to do so

Is there a way to have a page within my website, that doesn't have the regular top banners, naivigation links, etc. For my registration page, i want to link to just an empty page that they would print. With all the normal headers, etc., it comes out pretty ugly, and split across 3 pages. For an example of what I want to do, see www.science2u.com/registration_form.html.
Thanks, Kevin

Greetings Kevin,
The quick answer is no with regards to a navigation free page. The good news is there are several ways you could achieve the same effect without using a page to do so. One is to create the registration form in either word, pdf or as a text document and then create a download link to them
We also have a form builder which could have the user's fill this out and in conjunction with the above linked file should cover most bases.
The third and marginally more difficult item would be to create a custom pop up , probably with javascript, which loads the contents of the form into a new window and then add a print button.

Thanks John, looks like Word/PDF is best route to go ...

I'm not clear if a forum is the same as a blog? I'd like to add a blog to my site, so is a "forum" the same thing?
Thanks

Greetings Patti,
Forums and blogs are two separate, though lightly related and often complementary, programs. You probably have a free blog with your domain name if you purchased it through GoDaddy.com
While you can use a blog as a forum it's not an ideal mechanism for people to find material related to their interests.Forums are generally better at keeping related topics together. E.g in many of the comments on this blog there are many answers to questions that are unrelated and intermixed which in a forum would be a single topic and far easier to locate.
The best way to split this up is that traditionally ( amazing how a movement under a decade old has traditions

John,
I am working to build our site and integrate the Quick Blog into it. Do you have suggestions or an Add-On feature pending similar to the one in place for your Quick Shopping Cart?
Quick suggestions appreciated!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Brian

Brian--
WST has a built in RSS feed reader. Instructions for adding a feed to your site can be found here:
http://help.godaddy.com/article/3058
Basically, you go into a block you want to add the feed to, then in the menu on the left select Insert Object -> Feed and supply the information for your QuickBlog RSS feed.
For example, if you wanted to use the WST blog as a feed, you need to get the RSS Url for our blog. To find that you would click on the link over on the right side of this page under Syndicate called "Entries Rss 2.0". This would take you to this URL: http://blog.websitetonight.com/rss2.aspx
Take that url and use it as the "Custom RSS Url" when you are inserting your feed in WST.
This is much easier than I am making it sound I promise
Let me know if you have any trouble, or if this doesn't fit your needs.
Thanks
-Sam

I'm pretty sure this is a long shot, but with WebsiteTonight is there a way for a user to enter info through a form, and then display the values back to them? Or to make online modifications to their data values that are presented on a page? Kevin

Greetings Kevin,
It's possible but it's not really using WST to achieve the end result. E.g there's no database setup with WST and it could be achieved in a form building applet / flash app but realistically most solutions would require a hosting account / database. I can't think of a solution yet, besides I'd have to test it before recommendation, but I'll update you should anything appear that looks like it fulfills your needs.

The header picture is limiting in its presentation. Cannot be easily edited to match the space allowed... 3 choices tile, stretch and oversize is not adequate.
Also, at the bottom of the page, it remains white and the information scrolls up into the color there is no uniform page color.

Greetings,
Thanks for taking the time to highlight items you find frustrating with the header region. I think the options are pretty standard but I agree they may not work in the friendliest manner when you have images that may not match the orientation / size of the available area.
With regards to the footer this is not a common and appears to be the result of cutting and pasting code from Word which contains it's own styling information which is not correctly understood by most web browsers. The best way to get text in would be to copy the content from Word, paste it into Notepad and then copy that into Website tonight. The intermediate step strips all the formatting data of. This may not be the total cause with this template but I'll follow up on that at the start of the week.
