None of your business! Or yours, or yours, or yours…
One of the best things about the Internet is instant accessibility to content. But what if you don’t want everyone to have access to the content of your Website Tonight website?
Easy! Let’s password protect the pages so that only those with the proper username and password can see them. This is great for family websites, personal pictures, and any other type of site where only one person or one group should have access to your pages.
But what if you want to be a little more selective over the different pages on your site? What if you only want a client to be able to view their own page within your site? What if you only want to show certain galleries to certain people? The limitation becomes a pain and forces you to either have to find another way around or to potentially put sensitive material in the plain sight of others and this just won’t do.
Well now you have the option to add a different username and password set to nearly any of the pages in your Website Tonight project, giving you the ability to secure your information on a case by case basis with an easy to use interface.
Log into your account and from the ‘Manage’ dropdown, select ‘Password Protection’. The page you arrive at now has a new set of options at the top which will allow you to choose to either use the single username and password option for all selected pages like we allowed previously, or to opt to set a unique username and password combination for each page you’d like to keep private.
As soon as you make your choices, hit OK and republish your site, the next time a visitor requests any of these protected pages, it will be required that they use the password options that you have chosen on the pages you want. It’s as simple as that, and just as easy to modify if you change your mind or need to restore public access later on.
Thoughts? Questions? Things to point out? We’d love to hear from you, so write us a comment and let us know how Website Tonight works for you!
